Man Will Only Be Impressed By Virtual Reality When He Can Taste A Burger
Tech experts are looking forward to the launch of the Oculus Rift in 2016. However not everyone is excited, at a recent VR conference, a member of the audience told Comedy Central that he had no faith in Virtual Reality.
Graham Coumbs, 34, told us he was unimpressed by what he described as “A television for your head”. In fact Mr Coumbs said the one thing which would be impressive in Virtual Reality would be the ability to eat a virtual burger and be able to taste it.
“Few things in life are as good as a burger, I couldn’t care less about new interactive environments, industrial and medical applications or new platforms for storytelling.”
Graham said that until he could hold a burger in his hand and taste it but for it to not actually be real, he would not be purchasing a VR headset.
“If you’re asking me whether I’d rather travel through time and space via a headset, or watch reruns of Game of Thrones while eating a delicious burger… well I think we both know what the answer to that would be.”
Graham also stated that VR is still very far off given the fact that smell-o-vision would first need to be pioneered so that virtual, edible food could be created.
Mr Coumbs got more and more frustrated as he continued to explain why he simply was not that impressed with VR.
“Look, I just don’t care enough about things like gaming, I want to be able to eat hundreds of burgers without putting on weight, I want to go for a run then eat a burger but still make sure I’ve burned calories.”
Graham said all this burger talk had made him hungry and that he wanted to go get a burger. He said he would keep up to date with tech developments but wasn’t expecting anything anytime soon.
