Where Does Food Come From?
To celebrate the release of the movie Sausage Party, Comedy Central takes a look at where food comes from and how it’s made.
Everyone eats food… we need it. But many of us never think about where that food actually comes from. You are what you eat, so naturally, you should know the origins of the solids and liquids you place in your mouth day in, day out.
Food has been around for at least 3000 years (at least.) and is very popular. TV shows, books, movies and even paintings have been made in honor of food. Chefs are revered as kings, inspiring youth across the country to give up on ambitions of being doctors and scientists and instead strive to create the perfect macaroon.
You might assume that the food making process is complex, but never fear… because we’ve boiled, fried and baked it down to three broad categories that will make understanding food and its origins as easy as eating a slice of pie.
The three main food groups are: Dairy, Fruit/Vegetables and Burgers.
A popular misconception is that dairy products are made from milk (which is produced by cows.). This is only half true. The real way that dairy is produced is via telepathy conducted by cows. The following diagram provides a visual demonstration of a cow creating an ice cream cone using milk from it’s udder and the power of telepathic chemical-kinesis:
Burgers (also known as hamburger sandwiches) are popular among many youth. Whether it be hanging out with friends or trying to impress your date by showing them how cool you are, taking them out for burgers is a sure fire way to show that you’re hip.
But where do burgers come from? Burgers are made of 5 key ingredients:
Fruit and Vegetables
Fruit and Veg is a broad category, and one might assume that the varying types of fruit and veg come from specific species of plant. How wrong you are. Fruit and Vegetables, surprisingly, come from the exact same place: Green Monsters.
Green monsters are a species of animal that dispense all kinds of weird and wonderful fruit and veg. The below illustration is of a typical medium sized Green Monster, dispensing a fruit bowl.
All other food falls into one of the above three categories.
We hope this article has increased your appetite for good food and good content. Check out the trailer for Sausage Party below:
