Fake Facts About Game of Thrones You Won’t Believe
Game Of Thrones is a cool show, a real cool popular show. So in an attempt to be relevant, we thought we'd do some "research" and find out some "facts”. Every week this season, we’ll drop some of these sweet impressive facts for you to share with friends at viewing parties…
Peter Dinklage is a full sized human
You heard right, the actor Peter Dinklage who plays a dwarf in the show is really a full sized human. The technical work put in place to make it seem like he's super small is quite extraordinary. The cast photo above proves our point.
George R. R. Martin died in 2003
This is one of show business' best-kept secrets... until now! In order to keep the popularity of the show going, HBO have hired several lookalikes to play the deceased writer who died of a heart attack in 2003.
Everything north of the wall, including all animals and side characters, is CGI... except for Jon Snow
There are several reasons why Jon Snow is always angry and frustrated. It's not because it took him so long to get laid, or all the other bullshit that happened to him... no, it's because everything you see north of the wall (snow, animals, wildlings, white walkers...) it's all CGI. The reason Jon Snow looks so annoyed is because the actor (Kit Harington) has to do all those scenes in front of a green screen, all by himself.
Every horse in the show is the same horse
Game of Thrones isn't cheap to make, and what many people find remarkable is how great the production values are... the number of horses alone would cost millions, right? Wrong!... every horse in the show is the same horse. Through clever editing, the GOT team have managed to use just one horse through 6 seasons of the show!
The Hound states he prefers Pixar over DreamWorks films 37 times
The hound is a complex character, love him or hate him, a constant talking point for him throughout the series is how much he likes Pixar. In fact, we went back to count how many times he speaks about his love of Pixar and found that on 37 separate occasions, he mentions that Pixar films are far superior to DreamWorks films.
None of the characters ever eat or drink on screen
We had to double check this, and apparently according to fans of the books, the characters in Game of Thrones don't eat or drink because they don't need to. This is fantasy after all, if dragons, magic and snow exist then it's within the authors right to add other factors which may move the story outside the realms of possibility. Therefore, when adapting it for the screen the producers opted to stay true to the text. Which raises the question... why do we see food and drink? That is a good question.
The Dothraki language is actually French spoken backwards
Have you ever wondered how long it takes the Dothraki actors to learn lines? Well, wonder no more, all members of the cast who speak Dothraki are technically speaking French backwards.
The Original Game of Thrones was actually an episode of The Twilight Zone
Epic fantasy has been around for a very long time; there are virtually millions of fantastical epics in the world. So have you ever wondered… hey, Game of Thrones seems like a pretty classic fantasy story… surely something like it has been done before? Well you’d be right… but not in the way you thought. The very first book A Game of Thrones was actually an episode of the Twilight Zone in which a man enters a door that takes him to Winterfell. This man eventually turns out to be Ned Stark…
The Unsullied are actually real. None of them are actors
This one is pretty intense… we all know how elite these warriors are. But what’s more remarkable (other than the fact that their eunuchs who don’t fear death) is that according to the shows producers, the army are real. They were bought off a mysterious warlord from Uzbekistan and flown over for principal photography.
Olenna Tyrell is a six year old girl who has that disease which makes you look like a really old woman
When it comes to child actors, it’s always hard getting a legitimate dramatic performance. But not for Diana Rigg, Diana is only six but looks (and clearly acts) as if she were a woman well into her seventies or eighties.
