Man Swipes Right On Tinder For The Trillionth Time
On Monday morning, on his train ride to work, Michael Drinkwater (29) from Crows Nest swiped right for the trillionth time on the popular dating app Tinder. Mr Drinkwater has been on Tinder for six months, and started using the app roughly a month after breaking up with his girlfriend of three years.
The swipe was on Emily Yan (27) who was located 3km from Mr Drinkwater. The two people had no friends in common and 1 shared interest on Facebook (The Facebook page: Puppies).
The swipe did not come up with a match, but this did not deter Mr Drinkwater, who told Comedy Central:
“It’s all a numbers game, it’s about swiping right as much as possible, it’s just a super casual thing right?”
But Mr Drinkwater will have to keep swiping if he wants to stay ahead. Tinder has said 55% of their male users have swiped right at least 1 to 2 billion times, 35% have swiped right millions of times, and the remaining 10% have swiped right in the hundreds of thousands.
Singles have flocked to Tinder given the reliable, safe and vetted nature of the app. However, many have complained about the bots that regularly pop up. Indeed, as an experienced user Mr Drinkwater has met his fair share of bots:
“I didn’t realise they were bots at first, I mean sure, they solicited me for sex after I simply said Hi, but I thought that was because I had such a killer profile.”
Mr Drinkwater was sent a certificate of appreciation from Tinder and proudly framed it on his wall.
“There’s nothing wrong with pursuing love with your hand.”
Dating apps are popping up everywhere, however certain apps seem to delve into the most niche of features. Dating app Incoming allows people to select potential partners based on level of income and discretionary spending.
